Our goal in our infant program is to help your child to feel loved and secure. We believe it is important to individualize for each child so our schedules are based on the needs of each child. They sleep and eat on their own schedules. Our infant room staff holds and snuggles them during bottle feeding. We have floor and tummy time several times a day. As children become more mobile, our staff helps them to develop their large and fine motor skills, and we practice sitting, crawling, standing and walking. We also read books, sing songs and have lots of conversations with the children to help with language development. We believe that social and emotional learning begins in the infant room. Our teachers are trained to help infants by identifying their feelings and help them begin to learn to self-regulate and by helping them to learn to play with others.
As children turn 1, we start to introduce more structure into their daily routine. This includes set mealtimes and naptimes, while still allowing flexibility based on the individual needs of each child.
We incorporate more formal circle time with songs and movement activities, and we begin to plan specific activities designed to engage and stimulate young minds. Our day includes a variety of sensory experiences, fine and large motor skill development, and literacy activities such as reading books and singing songs.
In addition to these activities, we also start teaching beginning learning concepts, laying the foundation for understanding colors, shapes, numbers, and early language skills. This balanced approach ensures that each child’s developmental milestones are supported in a nurturing and engaging environment.
In our classroom, we prioritize teaching friendship skills, recognizing and naming emotions, and developing self-regulation. We also support children through potty training, working closely with families to ensure that this process aligns with each child's readiness and pace.
In addition to these foundational skills, we emphasize routines and procedures that are essential for a structured learning environment. This includes handwashing, participating in circle time, tidying up, and playing cooperatively in centers.
We also introduce early learning concepts such as colors, shapes, number and letter recognition, and basic science. Our goal is to create a well-rounded, supportive environment that nurtures each child's growth and development.
We build upon the foundations established in the Ocean Room by continuing to focus on social and emotional learning. Our ongoing efforts include teaching friendship skills, emotional awareness, and problem-solving strategies.
In addition to social and emotional development, we emphasize academic growth by incorporating math, literacy, and science into our curriculum. We also work on developing fine and gross motor skills, with a special focus on recognizing letters and their sounds, as well as practicing letter writing.
To support this, we utilize the ZooPhonics Program, which is specifically designed to enhance letter sound recognition and phonemic awareness in a fun and engaging way.
Our school-age program continues to emphasize social and emotional learning. We focus on enhancing friendship skills, emotional awareness, and problem-solving abilities. In addition, we introduce important life skills to support their overall development.
We also provide time and support for children to complete their homework. During the summer, our program transforms into a lively summer camp, featuring weekly field trips and a variety of fun activities to keep children engaged and learning.
